How to Do Cover Analysis.

I have made a pop magazine, my primary target would be mainly females and be teenagers.

Age: anywhere between 13-22.
Gender: Females and males.
Social Grade: A-C
Ethnicity:White
Interests:

Masthead
-The words that are used in the masthead is 'Q'.

These words infers that this is a music magazine because 'Q' is a music magazine.

Red and White have been used in the Masthead, this attracts the audience because its not too girly and its not to boyish, so intern males and females could both be attracted. Also because the masthead is so big and because of the colours it stands out. The writing for the title is a little bit curvy, that could show that the magazine shows thats its friendly.

Colour Pallet.
-The colours in my magazine that I have used are.. red, White, Blue and greyish.

-These colours connote that males and females could both like these colours.

-These colours attract the audience because both genders could like the colours.
In this magazine red colours have been used and that could mean that the magazine is powerful. There are also blues combined with the magazine for clothing and that could show and mean spirit and control.

Layout.
Personally I think that the layout is a little bit cramped, but that was purely because I didn't have enough room with the photo that i took.

  1. An excellent cover and a good start on this draft. TARGETS:
    1) Add more detail to your masthead and colour pallet paragraphs e.g. what does the name connote? What do the colours connote and why/how does this represent and attract the audience?
    2) Add more media language and detail to your images paragraph e.g. what what type and camera angle have been used? Why does the mise-en-scene (lighting, setting, costume, age of star etc) attract/represent the audience and fit genre conventions?
    3) Use representation theory.
