example paragraph::How was media language used to show britishness

Mis-en-scene is explored in the the pub scene in the Avengers by the sign of the pub being called ' The Inbreated Gremlin" the use of the word 'Gremlin' could link to the word 'Cremlin' which links to Russia which would scare people of the threat of there being another cold war with Russia.

Sound is explored to fit the British the British stereotype by these quotations 'Good Evening, Good Evening.' This fits the the stereotype because British people are always so polite. Also its diegetic dialogue  so its effective as well.

How was media language used to show the social context of 1960s?

Media Language was explored to show the social context in the 1960s by using mis-en-scene, starting with a  scene of a big female eye on Mrs Peels door. This eye is a female eye, it has heavy make up on this represents the 60s because they did heavy make up in the 60s. It was also explored by mis en scene by the outfit Mrs Peel was wearing, she was wearing a tight figure hugging black leather body suit. This links back to the 60s because the conceptive pill just came out and the 60s was when loads of people would have sex and with Mrs Peel wearing a tight figure hugging outfit its encouraging sex because how tight the outfit is.

Another way media language was explored to show social context in the 60s was by camera work. Camera work explores this because in a scene there is a 360 pan to Mr Steed its also a low angle shot of him so the audience was looking up to him, this is suggesting the alpha male theory. This links to the 60s because of the conceptive pill was released so intern it was showing how the 'alpha male' theory was staring to go. By the pill being released it was giving women the empowering moment they where gaining power in a way.

Media Language was also used to show the social context in the 60s by using sound. This is explored by diegetic and non diegetic sound. There is non diegetic music in the back round when Steed goes to Mrs Peels flat. This is a use of foreshadowing.

Britishness in the advengers

How was Britishness represented in  season 4 episode 1?
Costume was explored in britishness mainly because of the male character John Steed, he wore a bowler hat, a suit and carried a umbrella. You cant get more British than that!
The settings also explore the Britishness culture by setting one of the scenes in London also its not a poor part of London and its stereotypical old fashioned London. This also fits the stereotypical theory of the rich people in London being posh! Those houses today probably are not even owned buy people now because they are so expensive and that there is not many of those houses left in London at least not many left from the 1960s!   The fashion sense of the characters mainly John Steed he is compared and fitting the stereotype of a gentlemen spy like James Bond by wearing the suit. The stereotype of Britain being military based fits this stereotype because in season 4 episode 1 they do some things that it war based. For the props Steed has a bowler hat and a umbrella and they have a tea set on the train when they are travelling. They talk in a very over polite way. They both fit in the stereotypical way, they both arent overly interesting. Their dialogue is very intellectual,  they speak very posh.

homework

1. The following elements fits the target audience because the Lego movie is aimed for kids. It fits the target audience and attracts it because of the bight colours in it.Also a lot is going on in the photo so that the children wont get bored of what they are looking at. The tag line is made of lego so it attracts the children even more. The characters in the poster attracts the audience because its  all the characters in the poster which they like in the movie and that they love for example 'batman' the children loves batman and its all people that children would know.

Case Study: The town of no return.

Episode 1: the agents went to a small town, because previous agents who went there went missing so two new agents went there. Then they found out that the town was very strange and that the town was taken over by imposters and people who wanted to run the world.

Firstly the Steed goes to Emma's flat and she is fencing and asks her if she wants to be a school teacher because they need to go undercover and be agents and to check out the mysterious town.

The costumes don't really fit into the 60s stereotypical fashion. It seems that they fit like the war period. Even though they are filming this in the 60s they are covering a earlier period.

websites

the reason I have chose to do a website about the sea life charity is because people need to be more aware of what the left over plastic on the beach is really doing to the poor sea animals. I don't think its a very hard job to just put your rubbish or your plastic things in a bin or recycling bin because its unfair on animals dying from getting caught in plastic.

Lego movie posters.

Whats the difference between Denotation and Connotation?
Connotation represents the various social overtones, cultural implications, or emotional meanings associated with a sign. − Denotation represents the explicit or referential meaning of a sign.
Detonation is what is actually there. Connotation is the hiding meaning that might come from it.. example denotation.. theres a red locker.. connotation.. red could mean danger.

This is aimed at young children and possibly their parents.
This poster has very bright colours in it , which attracts the audience, and brings them in. Yellow suggests happiness.. red suggests danger.. blue suggests boyish and calmness.
We can tell that Emmet is the main character because he is at the front.
A lot of things are going on in this poster so this will draw children in because its exciting and they have loads of things to look at.
This poster is really affective because its draws children in and it makes children would want to see it.
Connotations: The connotations is that Emmet is the hero but he doesn't know it until he meets wild style.

Denotations: He's working class, he's a builder , he has yellow skin, he's the hero.

Many posters where realised when the movie was first made.. they realised about 15 to start with. By them posting lots of posters it promotes the film. Here is a few posters.. The posters make the film get more attention and they see them more. its the main characters in the teaser posters

In dancing on ice at 7.27pm on sunday 9th February 2014- face days before the movie launched - Itv Broadcasts a world first, an ad break made entirely out of lego.. heart foundation, premier in, it created a lot of hype on social media people who didn't see it talked about it and watched it on youtube. by more people talking about would make them want to see the film. people really liked it.

The lego movie broke boundaries. I know that the lego movie broke boundaries because everyone talked about it constantly. The marketing was everywhere, adverts, tv shows, magazines.. everywhere you went there was the lego movie posters. Double Page spread Analysis.

Double Page  Spread Analysis:
The double page spread that I have decided to analyse is the one with he picture of a man holding a gun and he has a cigarette in his mouth. because he has a cigarette in his mouth. He is holding a gun that represents the theory of Male Gender as alpha male (Gauntlett 2002.) It also represents the theory of Youth as depressed Law breaking drink/sex obsessed rebel (Hall 1904). People who read the magazine could relate to the magazine because they conduct themselves like this.

The colour pallet is black and white. This could suggest that the man in the main image isn't caring and that he has no feelings and thats is why he was holding a gun.

The typography is very simple. iTS very round and it could attract the target audience (the mojo readers) because the writing is very round which could mean that they are masculine

Wednesday, 17 January 2018

Mojo content analysis.

Typography: On this content page of this magazine it represents males a lot. The typography represents males because the style of the writing is very round and bold which could mean that the males reading this is strong and masculine and powerful males.

Colour Pallet :The colour pallet represents the target audience because there is a lot of blue in this photo. males normally like the colour blue and this could suggest that they are the ones reading the magazine.  The colour red represent the targets audience which are males because red represents violence. Also the colours red white and blue attracts and represent the target audience because it can represent British and American readers.

Another thing that attracts the target audience is the story teasers. It attracts the target audience because it involves a lot of people that the mojo readers like, like Elvis.

The main Image; The main image attracts the target audience because it was a really famous band in the 60's. It is a high angle medium close up. So you can see really clearly who it is in the image and it will interest the readers by a famous band that they know being on the front cover. The man in the front is in the band the Doors and he is called Jim Morrison. The look of the magazine is quite hip, and stylish for the time period.  Also Jim Morrison represents the target audience because males who don't want to grow up can relate to him because he was still partying at the age of 27 and thats how he died.

The Lexis attracts the target audience because the stories that are getting talked about are famous people and its people that the mojo readers would have liked.

Audience Theory (Use for all exams)

Wednesday, 10 January 2018

radio 1 live lounge course work 2.

Song Title & Band/Artist: WHAM Last Christmas.
Target Audience (age/gender/nationality/social grade):

Representation Theory/Quote
Lyrics that support this theory
Laura Mulvey (1975) argued women in the media are used as; ‘Erotic objects of desire for males on screen and in the audience,’ (Mulvey, 1975).

Gauntlett (2002) argues males in the media still follow traditional stereotypes as they are shown as, ‘Alpha males who control the action with violence,’ (Gauntlett, 2002).

A face on a lover with a fire in his heart, A man undercover but you tore me apart.
Mackillon argues something slightly difference, ‘Males are now shown as sexual objects of desire who are more concerned with image,’ (Mackillon, 2002).

Stanley Hall argues youths are; ‘depressed’ and are likely to seek excitement through; crime, sex, drink/drugs,’ (Hall, 1904).

But you still catch my eye, tell me baby do you recognise me?
Dick Hebdige (1988) argued youths are stereotyped as mixed metaphors of; “Youth as fun,” and “Youth as trouble maker.”

Richard Butsch (1992) who says working class males in the media are presented as; "Incompetent and ineffectual, often a buffoon, well-intentioned but dumb. In almost all working-class series, the male is flawed, some more than others..

How does non diegetic and diegetic sound attract the target audience?
It attracts the audience because of the lyrics. The lyrics that fit the theories such as the alpha male theory. That attracts the target audience because men in that situation can relate to the lyrics and it could make them like the song more.
