history of the news industry
typewriter// created in 1878 by Americans Christopher Latham Sholes, Frank Haven Hall, Carlos Gidden.
do you think newspapers will survive? how long for? what will they need to do to keep making money?
I think that newspaper will survive till the older generation dies and then i think newspapers will end up going. The older generation grew up knowing about newspapers so intern they carried on reading them through out their life so thats the only thing that they knew. If the newspapers want to keep making money they will need to make their stories interesting and wanting people to buy them so intern if the newspaper want to make money they will have to get people to buy them.
What challenges have different forms of technology posed to newspapers and their survival? The internet have a threat to newspapers. They are a threat because its easier to go on the internet than going out and finding a newspapers.

cuffs exam questions//homework
What do the opening scene and credits suggest/tell us about the genre, narrative and characters? What would the audience expects from the series?
The font in the opening scene in Cuffs is yellow which follows the crime drama because police cars are yellow. The colour yellow also connotes happiness, and it could also link to the setting suggesting Brighton is happy. In the opening scene there is graffiti on the walls which is suggesting that the target audience is young. because old people associate graffiti with young kids. The sound follows the crime conventions because its up beat and intriguing like crime.
How has sound be used to create meaning?(5)
The opening scene has non diegetic music which is upbeat and is showing the tv series is going to be exciting and something is going to happen. Also it suggest because its happy and modern music its for a younger generation. Also there is diegetic sound of police sirens which is showing that its a crime drama. There is diegetic sound at the beach which shows the funny and not so serious side to the crime drama - it brings the realistic side into it.

exam practice cuffs
Why was the pre watershed scheduling of 8pm significant in terms of the representation they could offer? (3marks)
Yellow highlighted is where it links back to the question.
In purple its the three points.
Its significant how Cuffs is before the watershed because cuffs have a lot of representations, they address a lot of things that families or people do not like to talk about. Firstly they show a behind of a naked man, on a nudest beach. Then they show a suicide attempt with graphic shots of the arm and then there is actual suicide, a man who hung himself. They also address gay men. This is significant because people or families do not talk about these events that has happened and its not really for little kids or 10 year olds who might be watching with their families to see graphic shots of self harm. A lot of their content is more for adults. Some families might find the suicide scenes too graphic and disturbing for their children.
How were the following areas represented in the episode: Ethnicity, Gender Sexuality
(10 marks)
The episode is a good historic document of political, culture, social climate of the 2000s.
In terms of Ethnicity, they show a positive outlook towards race because the one of the main characters is a black policeman is shown as the hero. However ethnicity is also shown as negative because a white male attacks a black young person in a racist attack. This is a realistic representation because the U.K is still very racist. In the 80s and 90s black people was always portrayed as the bad person but now society is less racist however there is still ignorant people who are racist which has been highlighted through Brexit.
The episode shows gender quite negative, the gender is more focused on males in this episode the gender equality is not shared out. They portray the females as not very hardworking people and like they are not very good at their job and that they are too dumb to realise a crime happened right in front of them because they was too busy talking about how attractive Jake was This is showing how the gender equality is not shared out fairly. Its portraying the males are better than the women. They also show the olde police officer as a women who sleeps around. In tern this is not a fair representation and its seems the writer is a bit sexist.
Sexuality is shown in this episode as positive. The setting is in Brighton, which is suggesting its positive because Brighton is known as the gay capital. This relates to political situations because in 2015 David cameron legalised gay marriage. however in the episode the main character Jake Vicars who is gay, is in a scene where he is in the shower and the back ground music is very feminine which is stereotyping him as feminine. Also Jake is portrayed as not knowing what to do and that he is not very skilled so it could be suggesting that he is helpless and not that good because of his sexuality. It also links back to society because now a days more people are more open about being gay.
