Gender: Mainly males would be into this sort of magazine because the colours suggest thats its a very boyish magazine.
Social Grade: A-C.
Ethnicity: White.
Interests; People who like this magazines and music, probably have interests In going to festivals and probably finding new bands that they like.
Masthead:
The masthead, Is 'MOJO' in capital letters. Its white and there is a blue back drop which suggest its for males. The word mojo means a magic charm, talisman, or spell and it means influence, especially magic power. However even though the meaning of the word mojo sounds quite girly, mojo is still very much aimed at males. The masthead stands out to the target audience because its very large and its not a girly font. Also all the font is very bold which means that the font is very manly and strong and powerful.
Colour Pallet:
Lots of colours have been used in this magazine. The main colours in the magazine is blue, black, white and red. These colours cannote that males would like these colours and it shows that the magazine could be quite edgy, and cool. Red connotes violence and passion for music. Red could also represent the lyrics of some of the songs.
the blue colours in the cover can represent that the person could be depressed and that some of the songs are sad. The yellow writing in the font could mean happiness. These colours attract the males because its the colours what males like. Also with having the colour blue its shows that the males have control and ambition and that they have spirit.
Layout:
This magazine is very crowded and a lot of things is going on in the centre and at the sides of the magazine. It shows that the magazine is very factual and that by the headlines on the front cover that it has a lot of information. The layout o the magazine attracts the audience because it has loads of teaser heading that people would like to read.
Images:
The main image is Dave Grohl from the foo fighters. His facial expression is very serious and he doesn't look very happy. The main image (which is a person) is inviting the target audience to read the magazine and he attracts the target audience because he is famous and a lot of people like his music so naturally they would be interested to read and see what this magazine is about. Also on this magazine it says in the top left hand corner that there is a free cd of teen spirit. So that would also attract the readers for getting a free cd to read and buy the magazine. There are three images in tis overall.
Teasers/Typography/Lexis:
All off the words and headings on this magazine are teasers to get people to read the magazine and all the little stories. The words are very formal and simple. The words attract the target audience because they use words like 'Nirvana'. That attracts the target audience because people who like Mojo would probably like the band Nirvana, so it would attract them to read the magazine more. There isn't much punctuation used. There is a quote on here that says "the songs that saved his life" by it saying that it is like eye candy for the male readers. The main word in that is 'saved; and thats in yellow and that means that he is happier in his life stage now.
Other Features:
There is a bar code on this, its not very big but its visible to see. There is a issue number but there is no price and date. I think that the barcode isn't very big because it would take up too much space and i think if the barcode was any bigger some male readers wouldn't want to buy the magazine because its not very inviting for them.
